About Morkie Dogs

What is a Morkie Dog?

A Morkie dog is a mix between a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier. They’re small, friendly, and full of personality. Maltese are known for being gentle and sweet, while Yorkies are bold and playful. When you combine the two, you get a puppy that’s affectionate, lively, and easy to love.

Morkies usually have expressive faces with bright, alert eyes and a sweet, engaging look. Their ears can be upright, floppy, or sometimes one of each—adding to their charm and individuality. They have long, silky coats that come in a wide range of colors. With their playful nature and cuddly size, Morkies make wonderful companions for all kinds of families.

What is a Korean Morkie?

A Korean Morkie is a Morkie with Korean lineage, usually through the Maltese side. Korean Morkies tend to be smaller and have more of a babydoll look, with shorter muzzles, bigger round eyes, and an overall daintier appearance. They’re often bred for a softer, sweeter expression and a more compact build—making them especially popular with buyers who love that cuddly, doll-like charm.

Morkie Temperament

Morkies are affectionate, playful, and full of personality. They love attention and often form strong bonds with their people, making them great lap dogs and loyal companions.

Thanks to their Maltese side, they tend to be gentle and cuddly. The Yorkie influence brings energy, curiosity, and a little bit of sass. That mix gives them a fun-loving nature with a sensitive streak.

Morkies do best in homes where someone’s around most of the day. They thrive on interaction and don’t enjoy being left alone for long stretches. With early socialization and consistent training, they can be both sweet-natured and confident—fitting well into family life.

Morkie Grooming & Coat Care

Morkies have soft, silky hair that can grow long and flowing or be kept in a shorter, easy-care trim. To maintain their coat and prevent tangles, daily brushing with a pin brush and comb is ideal. This keeps their hair clean, comfortable, and in great condition whether styled long or kept short and cute.

Bathing every few weeks helps them stay fresh without stripping the coat’s natural oils. Their expressive little faces also need daily attention. Eye boogers should be gently combed out with a fine-tooth comb, then wiped clean with a dry cotton round to reduce staining and keep the area tidy.

When grooming is done regularly and kept positive, it becomes a great time to bond. Morkies enjoy the attention, and a consistent routine helps build trust and connection.
